A co-production between Flying Fox Theater and Platypus Theater
For Class 4 upwards.
Peter Kennedy aka PK would like to tell you a story. About his dog, Popcorn!
With the help of his neighbours, Mr J, an illustrator and Sonja, a musician, and his somewhat clumsy Dad, he invites us into the garden of number 10 Little Street.
On his 8th birthday his dad gives him the best present ever. A dog! PK and his dad call her Popcorn, because she jumps around in the garden like a popping corn. From this moment PK and Popcorn are inseparable. We learn how the two of them get to know each other, teach each other tricks and have a lot of fun together. One day, while PK is at school Pompom escapes and is gone...
PK is very sad that he's lost his best friend. His dreams every night that Popcorn "visits" him. They run and play in the garden together as always but during the day PK is tired and doesn't want to go to school. His dad is worried about him until they finally manage to say good-bye to Popcorn together.
Beautiful projected Live-Illustrations interact with the puppets, actors and funky Live-music. The puppets which were specially developed for the play have a big emphasis on agility and movement. Poesie meets humor in this wonderful story about a boy and his dog.
We thank the Senat Department for Culture and Europe for funding this production.
A co-production between Flying Fox Theater and Platypus Theater
Dear Teachers; Popcorn! is a wonderful Production and we assure you that even though it may not be our typical subject matter for a Platypus show, we at Platypus have dealt with the topic of friendship and sadness in our trademark manner. With humor and a big portion of understanding for our growing audience members. Not one person has left this show without feeling astounded, touched and impressed. We offer a talk with the children after the show and you will amazed at how your students talk about the subject matter of losing a pet. We have a story to tell, not just PK...Go for it!
