Anja studied Social Work in Berlin and worked as both a social worker and theater pedagogue from 1983 until 1990. Parallel to working she studied acting and psychodrama. Together with Peter Scollin she founded Platypus Theater in 1985 and performed in numerous Platypus productions before she began to direct plays and to build up the Platypus theater both on an organizational and artistic level.

A number of the plays which she directed have been very successful e.g. Angstmän, The Ring of Friendship, Lady My life as a Bitch, The Call (nominated for the Berliner Children’s Youth Theater prize), The Tortilla Curtain, See You Later Navigator, Top Card Camilla and Between The  Lines. She is married to Peter Scollin und has three grown up children and one grandchild.
